U.S.-based international human rights lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe has said Peter Obi has no criminal case in the United States, while alleging that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (RMK) has attracted the attention of the U.S. Congress over claims of religious persecution.
Speaking in a video shared on the official Channels Television YouTube channel on Monday, July 27, 2026, Ogebe discussed issues relating to Nigerian politics and accountability.
According to Ogebe, “Even though Peter Obi has no criminal case in the US and is spotless, guess what? His vice presidential candidate, Kwankwaso, recently became a subject of interest in the US Congress and is being blacklisted for religious persecution.”
He said discussions involving Nigerian political figures often arise in the United States in relation to governance, accountability, human rights and democracy.
Ogebe concluded by urging the public to approach such issues with due diligence, saying discussions about political leaders should encourage greater accountability while allowing people to form their own opinions based on available information.
