Real Madrid are expected to remain active in the transfer market despite completing four major signings this summer, with club president Florentino Perez and manager Jose Mourinho reportedly aligned on the need for further reinforcements.
According to Madrid Universal on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, both Mourinho and Perez believe additional additions are required if the club is to compete successfully for domestic and European honours next season.
Real Madrid have already strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva.
Mourinho’s reported priority is to sign another central defender, with Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni emerging as his preferred target. The club is said to have shifted its focus to the Italy international after deciding against pursuing Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who recently sustained an injury during the FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese coach is also believed to be keen on adding another creative midfielder. Although the signing of Bernardo Silva has boosted the squad, Mourinho reportedly feels another playmaker would provide greater attacking depth and improve the team’s balance.
Any further arrivals, however, are expected to depend on player departures before the transfer window closes. Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and could intensify their transfer activity if members of the current squad leave in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise remains a long-term target for Perez. Despite the challenges involved in negotiating a deal, the France international is still regarded as one of the club president’s preferred transfer targets.
Olise is reportedly set to hold talks with Bayern Munich after the FIFA World Cup to discuss his future. The outcome of those discussions could influence whether Real Madrid step up their pursuit.
According to the report, Perez is prepared to make an offer of around €200 million if Olise indicates a desire to leave Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid are expected to continue monitoring developments in the transfer market while assessing other potential options before the summer window closes.
