Peter Obi has said his political alliance with Rabiu Kwankwaso is founded on shared values and a commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking during an interview on With Chude on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Obi dismissed suggestions that his partnership with Kwankwaso contradicted his criticism of Nigeria’s political establishment.
“Kwankwaso is one politician I can say genuinely cares for the poor,” Obi said.
He stated that the former Kano State governor has consistently demonstrated a commitment to reducing poverty through education and human capital development, arguing that investing in education and creating opportunities for disadvantaged citizens are essential to national progress.
Obi said their collaboration is driven by a shared vision for sustainable development rather than political convenience. He added that any political alliance he enters into must be based on competence, integrity and a genuine commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians, maintaining that education remains the most effective tool for reducing poverty and promoting economic growth.
