Lamine Yamal has praised Lionel Messi for his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the Argentina captain’s displays as beyond expectations despite his legendary status.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Yamal said he was delighted to see Messi playing at such a high level as Argentina pursue back-to-back World Cup titles.
“Leo Messi has been incredible so far. We all know who’s Messi but no one expected this sort of level at the World Cup. I’m so happy for him,” Yamal said.
The Barcelona winger also praised Thibaut Courtois ahead of Spain’s expected meeting with Belgium, describing the Real Madrid goalkeeper as one of the best in the world.
“Thibaut Courtois is one of the best GKs in the world. He will make my life difficult but, as always, I want to win!” Yamal added.
Messi has been among the tournament’s standout performers, while Courtois has played a key role in Belgium’s run with a series of crucial saves.
