Dr. Dickson Osagie, a global security analyst and former soldier, has alleged that foreign nationals have been supporting terrorist groups operating in Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview with News Central TV, Osagie recalled an attack on some of his military colleagues by Boko Haram in northern Nigeria in 2014. He said the soldiers repelled the assault and killed several members of the group.
According to Osagie, when the troops removed the facial coverings of some of the dead insurgents, they discovered that several were foreign nationals.
“I recall sometime in 2014 when some of my colleagues were attacked by Boko Haram in the North, and some of the foreign fighters were also eliminated during that attack. When they took off their facial masks, they discovered that some of them were foreigners,” Osagie said.
He further alleged that foreign nationals have provided terrorist groups in Nigeria with international expertise, medical assistance and technological support. Osagie’s remarks reflect his account and allegations; they were not independently verified in the interview.
