NPF Tactical Squad Arrests Wanted Bandit Kingpin With His Wife at the Airport on Their Way to Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID STS) has arrested a suspected notorious bandit kingpin, Mohammed Usman, popularly known as Yellow Lawani, while he was allegedly attempting to travel to Abuja with his wife from Kogi State.

The Commander of FID STS, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Victor Ogbeide, said intelligence operatives tracked Usman after he allegedly purchased flight tickets worth ₦9.8 million for himself and his wife.

Speaking on Arise TV, Ogbeide said, “Criminals too want to equally have enjoyment. Usman bought a ticket for him and his wife at the rate of ₦9.8 million. We gathered intelligence, and on the way to the airport, he was picked.”

He added that operatives later followed Usman to a forest in Kogi State, where two AK-47 rifles were recovered.

Usman was arrested alongside his brother, Abubakar Usman, who denied any involvement in the alleged criminal activities, stating that he did not know his brother was involved in banditry until the police arrested them.
