Peter Obi has criticised the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, alleging that worsening economic conditions have forced many business owners to abandon or scale down their enterprises.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Obi argued that Nigeria requires leadership capable of addressing its economic and governance challenges. He said his interest in the presidency is driven by a desire to improve governance, strengthen institutions and create opportunities for citizens rather than personal ambition.
Obi claimed that many Nigerians have experienced increasing hardship since the current administration took office, citing rising living costs, declining purchasing power and difficulties faced by businesses.
According to him, some entrepreneurs who previously owned successful businesses have been forced to seek alternative means of survival. “People who had business when you came into power are now people who are selling kuli-kuli,” he said.
The Presidency has not publicly responded to Obi’s latest remarks.
