Mexico midfielder Gilberto Mora has enhanced his growing reputation with a series of standout performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as reports claim the 17-year-old dreams of one day playing for Real Madrid.
According to Madrid Universal, Mora helped Mexico secure a 2-0 victory over Ecuador in the Round of 32 and became the second-youngest player to start a World Cup knockout match, behind only Brazilian great Pelé.
The teenager’s performances have attracted widespread attention, with several European clubs reportedly monitoring his progress.
Ignacio Ruvalcaba, head of Tijuana Xolos’ youth academy, said Mora has long admired Real Madrid and hopes to represent the Spanish club in the future. He also praised the midfielder’s attitude, describing him as grounded despite his rising profile.
Interest in Mora first emerged in 2025 when his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, acknowledged attention from top clubs, joking that $15 million “would not buy one of his legs.”
Although there are no reports of an imminent move, Mora’s impressive World Cup campaign is expected to intensify transfer speculation in the months ahead.
