The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, saying terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes have spread from the North to the South.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, Adeboye made the remarks while speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C., on June 23. A video of the event was later shared by Eagles Online on YouTube on Sunday.
The cleric said violence, once concentrated in northern Nigeria, has expanded into communities previously considered relatively peaceful, describing the development as evidence of a deepening security crisis.
“Things have gone far, far worse than before. The terrorism, kidnapping, and so on that were in the north are now even at my doorstep. They have come all the way down to the South. And, of course, the sponsors, they are all known, and they are still moving about freely,” Adeboye said.
He also called for greater accountability, alleging that those sponsoring terrorism and other violent crimes were known but had not been brought to justice.
