Media entrepreneur and politician Dele Momodu has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s level of public communication, arguing that democratic leaders should engage regularly with citizens regardless of age.
Speaking during an interview on Nevon HQ on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Momodu compared Tinubu’s public engagement with that of U.S. President Donald Trump, saying leaders have a responsibility to communicate directly with the people.
“If you look at even Donald Trump at his age, sometimes you see him standing there at press conferences and sleeping, but he’s almost falling asleep, yet he’s speaking to Americans. Is Tinubu talking to you?” Momodu said.
He argued that consistent communication is a key responsibility of any democratic leader, saying citizens deserve regular updates on government policies, the economy and efforts to address national challenges.
Momodu added that frequent public appearances and direct engagement help strengthen public confidence in government and improve the relationship between leaders and the people they serve.
