Rachael Folake Alamu, principal of the rescued Oyo school, has recounted the hardships she and other victims endured during their 56 days in captivity, revealing that the kidnappers initially provided biscuits for the children before stopping the practice.
Speaking in an interview with TVC News on July 13, 2026, Alamu said the captives faced worsening conditions as their ordeal continued.
“When we started, they were bringing biscuits for children, but along the line, that stopped,” she said.
Alamu explained that one of the most difficult aspects of their captivity was the frequent nighttime relocations whenever the kidnappers feared their hideout had been discovered. She said the victims were forced to undertake long treks through the forest, leaving many with bruises and other injuries.
According to the principal, the captives supported one another throughout the ordeal, with older pupils carrying younger children who could not keep up during the exhausting journeys. She added that many victims stumbled and fell while moving through the forest.
