Wike to PDP: ‘Don’t Run Away, Fight Harder — Those Unprepared to Fight Shouldn’t Aspire for Power’

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop complaining and intensify efforts to secure victory in the 2027 elections.

Addressing party leaders, Wike said political success requires resilience, organization, and tangible results rather than excuses.

“You don’t have to run away. Organise yourselves. You have to fight more than you fought,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor challenged party leaders to demonstrate their political value by delivering electoral support and strengthening the party’s grassroots structure.

“If you bring a House of Reps member, you have done something. If you bring a House of Assembly member, you have done something. But don’t come here empty-handed,” Wike stated, adding that politics should be judged by results.

He also advised governorship aspirants to project confidence and leadership, arguing that supporters take cues from the attitudes and actions of those seeking office.

Acknowledging the challenges facing the party, Wike urged members to focus on overcoming obstacles rather than dwelling on setbacks.

“Yes, there will be problems, but we are here to surmount the problems. That’s what leadership is all about,” he said.

Wike concluded by stressing that leadership demands commitment and sacrifice, describing it as more than just holding a title.
