Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has urged opposition politicians to refrain from undermining the judiciary, arguing that prominent political figures, including Peter Obi, have benefited from court decisions.
Speaking during an interview aired on Arise News on June 30, Sani cited Obi’s emergence as Anambra State governor through a court judgment as an example of the judiciary’s role in Nigeria’s democracy.
“Peter Obi was someone who benefited from a very strong judicial pronouncement when he wanted to become governor, which is an important detail to remember,” Sani said.
The governor said politicians should maintain confidence in the courts regardless of whether rulings favour them, rather than praising or criticising the judiciary based on outcomes. He also dismissed allegations that the ruling party was fueling crises within opposition parties, urging emerging political coalitions to focus on building strong structures and clear ideologies.
Sani said the current administration remains committed to the rule of law and called on political actors to prioritise constitutional processes and national stability as the country moves closer to the next election.
