Peter Obi has highlighted a question in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential nomination form, saying it should serve as a reminder to public office holders about responsible leadership.
In a post on his official X account on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate said the form asked whether he had ever been declared a lunatic or mentally unsound.
Reflecting on the question, Obi said it deserved the attention of public officials who fail to act responsibly toward citizens. He argued that many leaders have disappointed Nigerians and pointed to the country’s worsening insecurity as evidence of poor governance.
Obi added that the question on mental soundness should encourage leaders to remain accountable and focused on their responsibilities to the public.
The post came as political activities continue to gather pace ahead of the 2027 general election.
