

Bandits have k!lled a vigilante identified as Bawa Samari and two farmers at Magure community in Dangunu ward, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.
Sources told Daily Trust that a large number invaded the community in the evening on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 and shot sporadically.
A Local government official, who did not want his name mentioned, said that after Bawa was killed, his pump-action gun was taken away by the bandits.
He said four other farmers were also kidnapped during the attack, and their location is yet to be known, as the bandits had yet to establish contact with their families.
Police spokesperson in Niger, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the attack.
He said the joint tactical team had been mobilised to the area and effort was ongoing to apprehend the attackers.
“On 3/6/26 at about 4.20pm, bandits attacked Maguire village via S/Pawa and shot one Bawa Samari d3ad. Joint tactical teams mobilised to the area, and effort is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing assailants,” he said.
