Ezekiel Musa, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Obi II State Constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, says his ambition is driven by a desire to serve the people rather than enrich himself through public office.
According to PUNCH News, Musa made the remarks while speaking with journalists in Lafia on Tuesday. He criticised the representation of the constituency by incumbent lawmaker Luka Zhekaba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing poor roads, inadequate healthcare, limited access to potable water and declining educational standards.
The cleric said his humanitarian work and exposure to other parts of Nigeria and abroad inspired him to seek elective office after observing what he described as years of underdevelopment in Obi II.
“I am not coming to loot public funds or deceive my people. I am coming to serve and ensure that the people benefit from genuine empowerment and development,” Musa said.
He pledged to prioritise quality legislation, better roads, clean water, a general hospital, empowerment programmes and scholarships for children from disadvantaged families if elected in the 2027 general elections.
