House of Representatives member Yusuf Gagdi says Nigeria has not lost the war against terrorism despite persistent security challenges across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on June 30, Gagdi described the continued loss of civilian and security personnel as tragic, while urging greater national unity in addressing insecurity.
“A lot of things are happening in our country. People look at them from different perspectives. We have lost lives and it is unfortunate. We have lost civilians, we have lost officers of the armed forces, police, immigration, civil defence, the Army, Navy and Air Force,” Gagdi said.
He commended the sacrifices of the military and other security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes, insisting it would be wrong to conclude that Nigeria has lost the battle against terrorism.
Gagdi called on Nigerians to avoid viewing insecurity through political, ethnic or religious lenses, urging citizens to remain patriotic, support security agencies and pray for the country. He added that defeating criminal elements requires a collective effort from the government, security institutions and the public.
