Gagdi: “Look at the Recent Operations by Our Military and DSS. There Have Been Arrests, Prosecutions”

House of Representatives member Yusuf Gagdi has said recent operations by the military and the Department of State Services (DSS) show the Federal Government is stepping up efforts to tackle insecurity across Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on June 30, Gagdi cited the arrest, prosecution and conviction of terrorism suspects as evidence that security agencies are taking concrete action against criminal and terrorist networks.

“Look at the recent operations by our military and the DSS. There have been arrests, prosecutions and convictions. That shows government is responding,” Gagdi said.

The lawmaker questioned why insecurity appeared to be worsening as the country approaches another election cycle, suggesting the timing of recent developments warrants closer scrutiny.

Gagdi acknowledged that the current administration may not have adopted the most effective strategy at the outset but said recent adjustments indicate improvements in the country’s security architecture. He argued that evolving security threats require changes in policy and operational tactics, urging Nigerians to assess the government’s efforts based on available evidence rather than political sentiment.
