According to The Sun on Friday, July 3, 2026, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu remains politically strong ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying no opposition figure currently poses a credible challenge to the President.
Kalu made the remarks in his hometown of Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, during a meeting with members of the OUK Movement, Reality Organisation, APC stakeholders and party supporters.
The senator said the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains united and organisationally stronger than opposition parties, which he claimed are still grappling with internal divisions and have yet to present a formidable alternative.
On the economy, Kalu acknowledged that many Nigerians continue to face economic hardship despite ongoing reforms. However, he argued that broader economic indicators are improving under the Tinubu administration.
“The President’s economic policies may not have taken Nigeria to where it should be, but we are getting there. It is true we are still battling with the micro economy, but the macro economy is doing well,” he said.
Kalu added that the benefits of the government’s economic reforms would become more evident over time as efforts to stabilise the economy continue.
