Federal Government Unveils Solar Projects, Healthcare Investment and Regional Highway Initiative

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a series of infrastructure and development initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth, improving public services and expanding access to essential facilities across Nigeria.

According to a statement issued on June 26, 2026, the Federal Government unveiled a 505kW solar mini-grid project in Lagos and launched an additional 5MW power project in Epe to increase electricity access and promote renewable energy.

The administration also disclosed that more than ₦217 billion has been committed to strengthening medical education and healthcare training nationwide to enhance the capacity of health institutions and develop skilled professionals.

In the housing sector, the Federal Housing Authority has secured land in 28 states to expand affordable housing projects.

The government further announced that Nigeria and four other West African countries have established the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Authority to oversee the $16 billion coastal highway project, which is expected to improve regional trade, transportation and economic integration.

The Federal Government said the initiatives underscore its commitment to infrastructure development, job creation and long-term economic growth.
