Veteran entertainer and social commentator Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has shared a humorous story about how he persuaded former President Olusegun Obasanjo to give him a traditional outfit he admired.
Speaking in an interview with TVC, Charly Boy said he first noticed the outfit in a video of Obasanjo attending a cultural festival and immediately became determined to own it.
According to him, he later raised the request during a visit to the former president, telling him he wanted the same attire. Obasanjo initially declined, but Charly Boy said he refused to give up.
Recalling the encounter, the entertainer revealed that he pretended to cry after his request was rejected, a move he said eventually changed Obasanjo’s mind.
“I saw a video of him at a festival and when I visited him, I said, ‘Baba, I need that thing you wore that day.’ When he refused, I pretended to cry. Baba then said, ‘Please, I don’t want his trouble, go and bring it and give it to him,’” he recalled.
Charly Boy described the incident as a memorable moment and an example of his persistence when pursuing something he truly wants.
The story has attracted reactions online, with many social media users amused by the lighthearted exchange between the veteran entertainer and the former president.
