I Was In A Hotel When I Was Told My Plane Was Used To Take Money To S/Africa To Buy Arms—Oritsejafor

Former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has offered fresh details about the 2014 controversy involving a private jet linked to him that was reportedly found carrying a large sum of money in South Africa.

Speaking on Channels Television, Oritsejafor said he was not involved in the aircraft’s operations at the time, explaining that he had leased the jet to an Abuja-based businessman because of the high cost of maintaining it.

According to the cleric, the aircraft remained under the businessman’s control after the lease agreement was signed, and he had no knowledge of its day-to-day activities.

Oritsejafor said he first learned of the incident while staying in a hotel after receiving a phone call informing him of a problem involving the aircraft.

“I was in the hotel when someone called me and said, ‘There is a problem with your plane.’ I said, ‘What happened?’ Then they told me that the plane was used to take money to South Africa to buy arms. That was how I found out about it because I didn’t know,” he said.

The incident attracted widespread attention in 2014, with questions raised over the aircraft’s involvement. Oritsejafor maintained that although he owned the jet, it had been leased out and was being operated by another individual when the events occurred.

The interview has reignited public discussion about the controversy and the circumstances surrounding the case.
