“They Cannot Stop Me, They Will Fail. Let Me Assure You It Is Not the End of the Road” — Obi

Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has alleged that forces within the Federal Government are working to prevent him from appearing on the ballot in the 2027 general election.

According to Daily Post, Obi made the remarks during a leadership programme organised by the NextGen Mentorship and Leadership Initiative at Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, on Friday, June 26, 2026.

He challenged all presidential aspirants, including President Bola Tinubu, to participate in a public debate, arguing that it would allow Nigerians to assess the competence of those seeking the country’s highest office. Obi also maintained that Nigeria’s greatest challenge is a lack of committed leadership despite its abundant human and natural resources.

Commenting on the deregistration of the NDC, Obi dismissed suggestions that the development would end his political ambitions, insisting that democratic principles must be protected.

“They cannot stop me. They will fail. Let me assure you it is not the end of the road. We are committed to this democracy and those who want to kill this democracy are trying to hurt the society,” Obi said.
