We will not negotiate with terrorists

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, has stated that the Oyo State Government will not enter into negotiations with the terrorists responsible for the May 15 abduction of 45 students and seven teachers in the Orire Local Government Area. He made the declaration during a plenary session.

 

The victims were seized from the Esienle and Yawota communities. While addressing the assembly, Ogundoyin indicated that the abductors had presented specific conditions to the state government for the victims’ release, though he did not disclose the precise terms.

 

‘’If it was up to you,  will you negotiate with terrorist? If terrorists ask for weapons, money, concession on future laws of this land as part of their ransom? If you are the governor, would you accept those ransom? Would you accept for those people to be integrated into that community. We don’t know the details..so please, lets be sensitive and calm. You do not know the details. The more you negotiate with these people, the people you are going to embolden them.”

 

Ogundoyin assured the public that the administration is actively deploying all necessary resources to ensure the safe rescue and return of the captive pupils and teachers.
