Omoyele Sowore says he has been granted fresh bail in his ongoing criminal case under conditions that include a traditional ruler as surety, a property owner in Abuja, a ₦200 million bond and the surrender of his international passport.
Speaking in a video shared by SYMFONI TV after the court ruling, Sowore said he chose to address supporters before leaving the court, insisting that intimidation would not weaken the movement he represents.
“I was granted a new bail, which requires a traditional ruler, someone who has property in Abuja, and ₦200 million. Also, they want my international passport. They have always been after that passport,” he said.
Sowore claimed authorities had ignored earlier warnings but were now acting with what he described as “common sense” by granting him bail. He urged supporters to remain committed, saying the case was about the rights and freedoms of all Nigerians, not just his personal liberty.
Shortly after addressing the crowd, security personnel escorted Sowore away from the court amid a commotion outside the premises.
