According to a report published by The Sun on July 27, citing journalist Mohammed Awaad, the 41-year-old is expected to make his final Portugal appearance in a UEFA Nations League match against Wales on September 24 at Sporting CP’s José Alvalade Stadium, where his professional career began.
If the reports prove accurate, the fixture would bring an end to one of football’s most celebrated international careers. Since making his senior debut in 2003, Ronaldo has become Portugal’s all-time leading scorer and the men’s record holder for international appearances, helping the country win the UEFA European Championship and the UEFA Nations League.
