Trump Orders Retailers to Cut Petrol Prices

U.S. President Donald Trump has directed gasoline retailers to reduce pump prices, arguing that falling global crude oil prices—currently around $68 per barrel—should translate into immediate savings for consumers. In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned against price gouging, suggested petrol should sell for about $2.50 per gallon, and said retailers who fail to lower prices could face “big problems.” He also criticised California’s fuel tax policy for increasing costs for motorists.

FEC Approves N34.5bn Airstrip in Benue

Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council, chaired by President Bola Tinubu, has approved the construction of a N34.5 billion airstrip in Gboko, Benue State. Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo said the project will improve security operations, emergency response and humanitarian missions across Benue and the North Central region.

Education Minister Tunji Alausa said three out of every four Nigerian children cannot read and understand an age-appropriate text by age 10. TCN Announces 10-Hour Power Outage in Ondo

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled power outage from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Ondo Town and Okitipupa to facilitate the transfer of the Ife-Ondo 132kV transmission line and the commissioning of a new 60MVA 132/33kV transformer. TCN apologised for the disruption, while the Benin Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to supply electricity to affected customers during the maintenance period.
