VIDEO: Cosmetics Seller Confesses to Membership of Notorious Kidnapping Gang

A man identified as Chukwudi from Ebonyi State has allegedly confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang after his arrest by security operatives, according to The Cable on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

In a video circulating online, the suspect, who said he previously worked as a cosmetics seller, allegedly admitted participating in several kidnapping operations. He claimed he was recruited by a man identified as Obinna, who invited him to meet at Okofia Express Road, where he joined other suspected gang members, including Iyaboku and Okoro.

Chukwudi alleged that during one operation on the way to Topland, Obinna shot a driver after the group intercepted a vehicle. He said he was given a pump-action shotgun but did not use it because he remained inside a tricycle before the group proceeded to Mmaku.

Authorities said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks across the country. They are also investigating whether the suspect’s business activities were used to support the gang’s operations. Police have not disclosed the number of kidnappings linked to the suspect or identified other alleged accomplices.
